Weekend Wrap-Up - The ACTION Wrestling Championship Will Be On The Line At Family Reunion
It's Monday which means it's time to review the news and notes from the weekend that was in indie wrestling.
- ACTION Wrestling's first event of the year took place in Tyrone, Georgia on Friday, February 8 and it was a notable one. The show, which was a benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, saw Anthony Henry defeat Slim J, Jaden Newman and Cain Justice team up to best AJ Gray and Matt Sells, and AC Mack successfully defend his ACTION Wrestling Championship for the first time against Cam Carter. Mack's win was controversial and a rematch was immediately scheduled for ACTION's 3/22 event. ACTION CEO Matt Griffin announced that the winner of the Mack/Carter rematch will go on to defend the championship against Fred Yehi at IWTV's Family Reunion in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 4.
- AC Mack's impressive weekend continued into the next day as he won the 30-man, over-the-top-rope, Scenic City Rumble in Ooletwah, Tennessee on Saturday night, February 9. Mack was the final entrant into the Rumble by virtue of his victory in the Scenic City Scramble match that took place at last years Scenic City Invitational, and won the match merely be entering the ring after all of the other participants had been eliminated. After his win Mack was confronted in the ring by the man he pinned in the Scenic City Scramble, Marko Stunt. The card also saw Joey Lynch defeat Anthony Henry and The Carnies reunite moments after Nick Iggy pinned Kerry Awful in a No DQ bout.
- Right before the Scenic City Rumble, Making Towns Wrestling held their February Fracas event. The show saw Savanna Stone defeat Ruthless Lala and Allie Kat pin Aja Perera in the main event. Making Towns will return to Red Bank, Tennessee on 5/3 for their second annual Making Towns Classic. ACTION For Super Nova, The Scenic City Rumble and February Fracas will all be available on demand here on IWTV in the coming weeks.
- IWTV presented a pop-up live stream of Pro Wrestling Explosion's Galactic Resolution event on Saturday, February 8. The surprise stream saw Bobby Dempsey win the PWE Championship from Alex Payne in the main event. Be sure to follow IWTV on Twitter for updates on future pop-up events.
- CHIKARA kicked off their 20th Season on Sunday, February 10 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as the promotion presented their National Pro Wrestling Day event free and live here on IWTV. The show, which was a benefit for the Arch Street Center, saw The Bird And The Bee (Solo Darling and Willow Nightingale) win a four corners, elimination tag bout, Officer Warren Barksdale upset Hallowicked and the unlikely team of Kimber Lee and The Whisper successfully defended the Campeonatos de Parejas against former champs Cornelius Crummles and Sonny Defarge. National Pro Wrestling Day will be available on demand here on IWTV in the coming weeks.
- Sunday evening saw Orange Cassidy retain his Independent Wrestling Championship over Stokely Hathaway in the first ever Grammy's Street Fight. Cassidy's next defense will be against Chris Dickinson at ICW New York's Party And Bullshit this Friday, February 15 live on IWTV. IWTV News will have a more detailed piece on the response to the unique Cassidy/Hathaway match soon.
- Bizarro Lucha held their second event, Into The Luchaverse, on Sunday, February 10 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Shotzi Blackheart defeated Cabana Man Dan and Nick Iggy won a battle royal to become the promotions first champion. Into The Luchaverse will be available on IWTV soon.
- Match announcements have begun for the Wild Zero/Beyond Wrestling show Ceremony which will take place in Syracuse, New York on Sunday, March 17. Bouts announced so far include The Beaver Boys vs To Infinity And Beyond and Chris Dickinson vs Jay Freddie.
