NOVA Pro's Born To Run To Feature One Of Europe's Top Stars In The Main Event
European independent wrestling sensation Ilja Dragunov will make his NOVA Pro debut in the main event of the promotions Born To Run show which takes place on Saturday, April 6 at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, New Jersey as part of The Collective. His opponent will be "The Ace Of The Mid-Atlantic" Arik Royal, who in many respects has been the face of NOVA Pro since it's inception in 2015.
The Russian born Dragunov has emerged as one of the hottest commodities on the indie scene over the course of the last two years. At just 25 years of age, Dragunov has won every major title in Germany's wXw promotion and has quickly become one of the most in demand stars on the indies today. His hard nosed style and high energy approach have earned him fans all over the globe and he is widely considered one of the best wrestlers in the world.
Though Royal is not as well known as Dragunov, he is an excellent wrestler in his own right and is a serious force to be reckoned with. Royal has been particularly impressive in NOVA Pro where the big man holds victories over Tracy Williams, Donovan Dijak, David Starr, Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno), 2 Cold Scorpio, PCO and Fred Yehi among others.
The announcement of Dragunov vs Royal also points to an interesting theme of the Born To Run card, which seems to be featuring regular NOVA Pro roster members competing against international stars from all over the globe. Other matches announced for Born To Run so far include:
- Arik Royal's perennialNOVA Prorival, Logan Easton Laroux, goes one-on-one with the luchador Puma King.
- Australian star Shazza McKenzie squares off against former Independent Wrestling Champion "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams.
- Ireland's Session Moth Martina takes on fan favorite Faye Jackson.
- Japanese wrestling legend Shinjiro Otani competes against technical wrestling genius and former Independent Wrestling Champion Jonathan Gresham.
- Chris Brookes (UK), Saraya Knight (UK) and Team Blue Nation (Australia) have also been announced.
