Weekend Wrap-Up: Orange Cassidy makes THREE Title Defenses plus Beyond And Black Label Pro Make Big Announcements

It was a big weekend in independent wrestling with major events, news and three Independent Wrestling Championship defenses.

  • Orange Cassidy defended his newly won Independent Wrestling Championship for the first time. And the second time. And the third time. Cassidy first traveled to Alton, Illinois on Friday where he successfully defended the title against Eddie Kingston at St. Louis Anarchy. He then decided to bring his backpack and the title he carries in it to True Wrestling the following day in Berwick, Pennsylvania where he turned back the challenge of Tommy Boy Floyd. OC closed out his weekend by wrestling in Syracuse, New York for Wild Zero where he beat Puf in another title match. The Wild Zero match was the first IWTV Title bout to take place in New York state.
  • The aforementioned St. Louis Anarchy event, Gateway To Anarchy streamed live on IWTV. The card had to be reshuffled due to a major snow storm that hit the area, but the Anarchy team pulled together and delivered a great show capped off by a main event that saw Jeremy Wyatt defend his Gateway Heritage Championship against Warhorse Jake Parnell in an excellent Pure Rules Match. The entire show can be seen here.
  • Beyond Wrestling announced that they will return to East Greenwich, Rhode Island on Sunday, February 24 for the Treasure Hunt Tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive a future shot at the Independent Wrestling Championship Beyond also announced that they will run a joint show with Wild Zero in Syracuse on Sunday, March 17.
  • Black Label Pro revealed that they will hold a tournament to crown their first ever tag team champions at Whoomp There It Is on March 9. The super team of BLP Champion Ethan Page and BLP Indiana State Champion Kobe Durst were the first team announced, and just minutes before this article went to press The Philly And Marino Experience were revealed as the second entrants.
