Top 10 Challengers for the IWTV Independent Championship | April 2019 Edition

Top 10 Challengers for the IWTV Independent Championship | April 2019 Edition

April was a huge month here at IWTV and a big month for the Independent Wrestling Championship. A new title was unveiled, Orange Cassidy successfully defended it three more times, and the line of wrestlers clamoring for an opportunity to face off against the champ continues to swell. As the month closes IWTV has compiled our third top ten contenders list. While these rankings do not guarantee championship opportunities to anyone who appears in them, they do indicate deserving challengers and other interesting contenders. Now let’s take a look at the top ten contenders to the IWTV Championship for the month of April.

Kris Statlander

Statlander returns to the number one ranking again this month, after slipping to number two in March. Victories over AR Fox and Davienne on Beyond Wrestling's Uncharted Territory series firmly cement "The Alien" at the top of heap for the second time, and it may prove difficult to knock her off this perch.

Gary Jay

The Stiff Robo Ginger debuts in the number two position in large part due to his victory over former number one contender, "Warhorse" Jake Parnell, in the main event of IWTV's Family Reunion event. Knocking off the person in the top slot will always get you extra attention from the committee, but it's worth noting that Jay's case was also bolstered by a recent victory over Anthony Greene at Black Label Pro and his undefeated streak at Journey Pro.

Craig Mitchell

The "Midwest Bully" has become one of the most popular wrestlers in Freelance Wrestling over the course of the last year and breaks into the top three by virtue of a huge victory over Nick Gage at the promotions Burn After Watching event. Mitchell has been on a winning streak in both Freelance and Southern Underground Pro, adding to the argument that he's worthy of serious consideration for an IWTV Championship match.

Jeremy Wyatt

The crafty veteran grappler climbs one spot this month as he has remained the Gateway Heritage Champion. With successful title defenses over Hallowicked, Larry D, Jonathan Gresham, Jake Parnell and Matt Cross among others, Wyatt has elevated the title and himself. With the Midwest Mixtape on the horizon, Wyatt could end up climbing even higher next month.

Ethan Page

All Ego may have lost the Black Label Pro Championship in controversial fashion, but he also was able to defeat Kylie Rae to win the Freelance World Championship in definitive fashion. In addition, Page bested MJF in a wild dog collar match at Alpha-1 and remains one of the most in demand stars in all of independent wrestling.

O'Shay Edwards

O'Shay Edwards has been killing it all across the Southeastern United States for the last year and is now starting to draw attention in other parts of the country as well. The Big Bad Kaiju has caught the eye of the IWTV Championship Committee with standout performances in SUP, Action Wrestling and Scenic City Invitational events.

Andy Brown

Southern California Standout Andy Brown makes his first appearance in the rankings after another successful defense of his Ground Zero Championship on April 27 at the promotions Word Of Mouf event. Brown won the title in December in a one night tournament that saw him defeat Jake Atlas, Eli Everfly and Tyler Bateman, and has since defended the championship against Bateman, Douglas James and Dom Kubrick giving him major victories over a who's who of West Coast wrestling talent.

Jake Parnell

The "Warhorse" slips from number one to number eight after losing to Gary Jay at Family Reunion, but make no mistake - he is still a serious contender. Parnell remains the Black Label Pro Indiana State Champion as well as the Zero1 USA Heavyweight Champion, and a good showing at Beyond Wrestling's Lethal Lottery event could propel him back to the top of the rankings.

Allie Kat

The ferocious feline has improved her game in 2019 and claws her way into the top ten by virtue of a hot streak that has seen her pick up big wins over Kimber Lee, Joey Ryan, Logan Easton LaRoux and Kevin Ku. In addition to these victories, Ms. Kat was one of the breakout stars of The Collective where she scored a big money win in the Black Label Pro battle royal, as well as a victory in four-way Swamp Monster Lumberjack match at Orange Cassidy Is Doing Something Or Whatever, Who Knows???

MJF

He's still the Limitless Champion. He's still annoying. He's still number ten.
